From Paris to Palace Street: How We Celebrated Bastille Day

What a day we had!

On the 13th of July, we celebrated Bastille Day here at Chez Max, and we just had to share how incredible it was.

The day started with a free punch for everyone — a refreshing treat that set the tone for what turned out to be a truly joyful celebration. Throughout the afternoon, the terrace filled with the sounds of live jazz and the beautiful voice of a French singer, bringing a little taste of France right to the heart of Dublin.

We spent the day chatting with tourists, locals, and lots of French people living in Dublin — all stopping by to enjoy the music, the atmosphere, and of course, a glass of punch. It was amazing to see such a diverse crowd coming together, smiling, singing along, and celebrating.

Later in the evening, we handed out raffle tickets to 30 lucky guests, and Max picked a winner from the hat. The prize? A chilled bottle of rosé champagne — the perfect way to end the day on a sparkling note!

And yes, there was crème brûlée—smooth, creamy, caramelised perfection. Let’s be honest, it wouldn’t be Bastille Day at Chez Max without it.

With drinks, food, music, and plenty of French flags, the entire day was a real success, and we are still smiling from all the wonderful people we got to meet and celebrate with.

Thanks a million to everyone who joined us — we loved every minute of it, and we can’t wait to do it all again next year!

À très bientôt,

The Team at Chez Max
